With Christmas just around the corner, 2019 drawing to a close and a new decade on the horizon, we've spent some time reflecting on the past 12 months.
It's been a fantastic year here at Attractions.io, we've welcomed new customers on-board from all over the globe, continued to grow the team and launched hundreds of improvements to our platform — including two major new features: In-app ticketing and mobile food ordering.

If you're not already familiar with our platform, it can be quite a challenge to concisely explain how it all works and the benefits for guests and operators alike. Our new animated explainer video aims to bring the digital guest journey to life, demonstrating how our technology helps improve the guest experience and unlock new revenue opportunities along the way.
We've welcomed some fantastic new visitor attractions this year, across a range of industries, sizes and geographies, which is a testament to the versatility of our platform. Here are just a few of the incredible brands we're proud to be working with:
Award-winning conservation charity and renowned World Primate Centre, Twycross Zoo, joined the Attractions.io platform in summer this year as part of a sustainability drive to eliminate paper maps.
We’re delighted to be able to help Twycross Zoo in their mission to reduce their carbon footprint and provide guests with the means to access everything they need to have a great day, at their fingertips, whether it's up-coming talk schedules or information on the zoo’s essential conservation work.
It's been an absolute pleasure working with the team at Twinlakes this year. As well as helping parents with day planning and wayfinding at this family-friendly attraction, the app is also being used to promote special offers, monitor guest satisfaction and send highly-targeted messages to guests based on their location and behaviour.
Thomas Mann, Marketing Executive at Twinlakes, explains: "The Attractions.io platform has given us access to tools we didn't think were available to an attraction of our size. Crucially, it allows us to compete with larger attractions both in terms of the visitor experience we offer and the data we have at our disposal."
Wish you were here? We do… most days!
"Zuri" means "beautiful" in Swahili and is a very befitting description for this luxury hotel and boutique resort in East Africa. Although they’ve only been using the platform for a couple of months, Zuri Zanzibar have already revolutionised the way they communicate with guests thanks to the ability to send targeted and personalised push notifications about upcoming shows, activities and special events that enrich the experience.
Who wouldn’t want to receive an invite to “Cozy up under the stars on the outdoor lawn in the Spice Garden and watch the Christmas classic Home Alone (1990) along with movie snacks.”… Yes please!
As part of our partnership with Merlin Entertainments, Gardaland became the 10th Merlin theme park to use our technology. The app has been very well received so far and is available to use in Italian, German and English.
We've launched two major new features this year: mobile food ordering and in-app ticketing. Paultons Park were the first customer to try both, making history in the process.
When hunger strikes, guests can pre-order their food and drink right from within the app, anytime, anywhere. Once the order is ready, users receive a notification and can head straight to a dedicated collection point.
With options to pay not only by credit card, but also Apple Pay and Google Pay, the in-app ordering experience eliminates points of friction for guests, whilst built-in abandoned order recovery, meal upgrades and intelligent cross-sells help boost F&B revenue for operators.
Early results are impressive, with a 38% increase in average basket size and 12% of orders including an up-sell or cross-sell.
We're really excited about our in-app ticketing capabilities and recent integrations with leading industry ticketing vendors which enable visitors to purchase tickets and ticket upgrades natively within the app.
Pre-purchased tickets can also be easily imported into the app, eliminating the need to print tickets at home, or queue for printed tickets on arrival.
Since integrating ticketing with their mobile app, Paultons Park have a great increase in app downloads with over 25,000 tickets imported in 3 months.
Having been members of The International Association of Amusement Parks and Attractions (IAAPA) since 2011, we've attended the IAAPA Expo in Orlando for several years, however 2019 was our first year exhibiting!
As well as making some valuable new industry connections, it was fantastic to be able to showcase what we have to offer to the industry. We'll be exhibiting on home soil for IAAPA Europe in London next September and will be back in Orlando for IAAPA Expo 2020.
Have you downloaded the new Blooloop App yet? In November we announced a new partnership with Blooloop to deliver a first of its kind industry news app, providing visitor attraction industry professionals with the latest industry news on the go.

We've got lots of exciting plans for the New Year and some exciting projects in the works that we can't wait to share.
In the meantime, we wish you a very Merry Christmas and an ‘Appy’ new Year — see you in 2020.
