The updated in-app map is a first for the attractions industry. It features dynamic lighting that adjusts in real time to mirror the ambient light within the park. As evening descends and lights illuminate the park's attractions, the interactive map transitions seamlessly to reflect the environment, augmenting the enchanting atmosphere of the after-dark events. Initially available on iOS, with an Android version to follow, the feature promises to further connect the physical and digital worlds.
Bianca Sammut, Divisional Director for Alton Towers Resort, said, “As a Theme Park Resort we strive to be innovative and love to provide our guests with something unique. Thanks to this new feature, Attractions.io have made this possible within our App and I am excited for our guests to see this update in all its glory.”
One of the notable features of the enhanced map is its ability to reflect moonlight off water bodies within the park, such as the iconic lake in front of the towers. This detail ensures guests are not just informed but immersed in a setting where technology and nature converge to enhance the visual and sensory experience.
The map’s development is part of an ongoing collaboration with Attractions.io, the leading guest experience platform for visitor attractions. Mark Locker, Founder & CEO of Attractions.io, emphasised their continued commitment to innovation:
“Maps are a key part of the digital guest experience, which is why we invested in creating our own mapping technology, purpose-built for attractions. Our collaboration with Alton Towers to introduce the first-ever nighttime map is a first glimpse into the possibilities this enables, helping guests to feel even more connected to their surroundings. We are excited to continue to innovate and deliver the best possible mapping experience to guests.”
