As the year draws to a close, we’re excited to bring you our final product update of 2024, packed with new features and enhancements across our mobile app platform and MapLayr SDK.

Give every guest a VIP experience with our AI Assistant.

Imagine if every guest had a personal guide with insider knowledge of your venue, making sure they never miss out on the best experiences. Our new AI Assistant connects key touchpoints like ticketing, wayfinding, menus, and activity schedules to provide personalised recommendations for each unique visitor.

Whether helping guests find the best activities based on their preferences, suggesting nearby dining options, or naturally surfacing upsell opportunities, the AI Assistant ensures every visit is tailored to their needs.

Available as an additional module in the Attractions.io mobile app platform, it’s like having your venue’s ultimate insider at every guest’s fingertips. Learn more about our AI Assistant here.

Playback your season with heat maps

This quarter, we released our new heat map dashboard and playback mode, making it faster and easier for venues to understand guest movements on-site.

Using playback mode, you can track guest flow hour by hour, day by day, or compare two periods to assess the impact of seasonality or special events on guest movement. Our customers use their heat map data to:

  1. Spot overcrowding at peak times and redistribute guests using in-app messaging
  2. Position new food and beverage outlets in areas with high-traffic
  3. Re-deploy staff to busy areas throughout the day 

Our friends at Columbus Zoo even used their heat map to plan upgrades to their WiFi infrastructure, adding additional routers to the most populated areas on-site.

What else is new in our Mobile App Platform?

We’ve made hundreds more improvements and quality-of-life updates to our backend console, Connect, this quarter, to make it easier to manage the content inside your app:

New digital store fronts

You’ve worked hard to curate amazing products and experiences—why settle for a digital storefront that doesn’t show them off? With our new, customisable digital storefronts, you can choose between a sleek list view or a bold card view for your products. Add or remove header images and titles to match your brand and make the experience more intuitive for guests.

The updated UI isn’t just more accessible—it lays the groundwork for exciting enhancements next year, like better targeting and featured product highlights.

Enhanced security with multi-factor authentication for Connect 

We’ve implemented Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) for the Connect Operator Console to strengthen account security and protect sensitive information. This adds an extra layer of protection by requiring users to verify their identity with an additional factor beyond a password. 

With MFA, only authorised users can access your app analytics and CMS, providing enhanced security and peace of mind.

Maplayr SDK for the web

What’s new with MapLayr?

For operators with existing mobile and web experiences, MapLayr is now even more versatile. In addition to our existing mobile SDK, Maplayr is now available as a Web SDK, making it easy to integrate interactive wayfinding directly into your existing web or app platforms.

Whether you’re managing a smaller venue or hosting a time-bound event, Maplayr for web offers the same robust functionality, including customisable, interactive maps, and real-time, over-the-air updates. Learn about MapLayr for web and mobile.

Integrations News

This quarter, we welcomed a new integration partner to our app ecosystem and enhanced our capabilities with long-standing partner Gateway Systems:

  • K3 MStore, formerly Merac, is an all-in-one POS system that manages ticketing, sales, membership, fundraising, event planning, and email marketing in a single location. Operators can now import active passes and tickets by scanning a barcode or entering a guest’s membership number and email address.
  • Gateway: We've enhanced our Gateway ticketing integration to allow guests to purchase free products, redeem coupons, and set inventory limits for popular items—streamlining the experience for everyone.
  • Coming Soon Blackbaud Altru: Blackbaud Altru is a ticketing, membership and fundraising management solution for non-profit organisations, including museums, zoos, aquariums, and gardens. By Q1, operators can integrate Blackbaud tickets and passes directly into their mobile app platform.

Mobile app zoo audio tours

In-app audio

They’ve queued at the admissions gate, made it through the turnstiles, and just when they think they are free to explore—bam, another queue for an audio device. The kids are restless, everyone’s eager to get going, and it’s not exactly the start your guests imagined to their big day out. With our new native audio hosting about to launch in the new year, guests' will soon be able to skip the hassle and dive straight into the fun, enjoying immersive audio content like animal soundbites, keeper talks, or museum tours right from their personal device. No delays, no stress—just a seamless start to an amazing visit.

Pre-planned itineraries

Our customers asked for more ways to help first-time visitors and key groups make the most of their visit—and we listened! Pre-planned itineraries are arriving in Q1. In the day planner tab, guests will be able to choose from a variety of itineraries tailored to their group or interests, like recommended day plans for first-time visitors or families with young children. These itineraries will offer accessible, personalised suggestions to ensure every guest has a memorable experience. You’ll be able to easily create, publish, and customise itineraries through Connect.

Share tickets with family and friends

We’re making life easier for the “designated ticket manager” (you know, the parent or friend who always handles planning). With our new ticket-sharing feature guests will soon have the ability to share tickets and passes with friends and family in a tap, making group visits smoother and more fun. No more juggling barcodes or texting screenshots—just simple, stress-free access for everyone!
